Obituary for Carolyn Veller

Carolyn “Carol” Alice Veller, 80 of Toledo, Ohio (formerly Bowling Green, Ohio) passed away peacefully on January 6, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Detroit Avenue. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 1, 1938 to the late Arthur and Virginia Pittman. She attended Waite High School and shortly after met her lifetime love, Evald Mitchael Veller, they were married in 1955 and remained so until his passing on March 1, 2009. Carol and Eve together raised six wonderful children. Carol spent the earlier years of her married life with her husband and children at 665 Midfield Drive in Maumee, Ohio. When most of the kids were grown and grandchildren started arriving she and Eve moved their roots to Otsego Pike in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Carol held many jobs over the years, but none made her as proud as being a mother and grandmother. Carol loved her family, ”to the moon and back.” She was a people person and was her happiest when there was a house full of company. Even during her last days as family gathered around her ....her family was her heart, and she loved having them all there. “Send in the troops,” she said.

Carol is survived by her six children. Arthur “Mitch” Veller, Marshall “Marty” Veller, David Veller, Terry (Francia) Veller, Sharon (Tom) VanderHorst, Valorie (James) Mewhorter, and special daughter-in-law Bethan Veller. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grand children, along with numerous other family and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Evald, her father Arthur, her mother Virginia, and her brother Jim.

Her family would like to thank all of the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Detroit Avenue for their kindness during her stay. A very special thank you to her angels: Martin, Greg, Alice, Donna, and Malinda. To Dr. McGreevey “aka: Dr. McCharming”, you were a blessing to Carol. You calling her charming and mystifying during your visits put a smile on her face. For those moments and smiles her family will forever be grateful to you.

Visitation for Carol will be held at Peinert Dunn Funeral Home , 18620 Washington St. Tontogany, Ohio on Tuesday January 9 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 10:00 am with a short visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Burial will follow the funeral at Tontogany Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in her honor to Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Detroit Avenue in Toledo, Ohio.
