Obituary for James L Studer

James L. Studer, 83, a lifelong Whitehouse, Ohio resident died December 3, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Jim was born May 9, 1934 in Whitehouse to Edwin and Bernice (Wilson) Studer. On June 7, 1958 Jim married Delphine (Zak) in Toledo. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2004 after 46 years of marriage. Jim worked at LOF retiring in 1992 after 35 years.

Jim was a US Army Veteran and served in Germany from 1954 to 1956 where he was a tank driver. Jim was active in the American Legion after he left the Army. He was the Whitehouse Post #384 Commander for 10 years, and was in their Color Guard.

Jim was an avid athlete. He was in the Cincinnati Reds farm league until he was drafted into the Army. Jim coached Little League Baseball and was a board member of the Anthony Wayne Junior Football League and helped establish the American Legion Baseball team in Whitehouse. Jim was also a board member and helped found the Anthony Wayne Area Recreation
Corporation. In recognition for all his community service he was inducted into the Anthony Wayne Alumni Hall of Fame in 2000.

Jim loved gardening, bird watching, sports, the outdoors and hunting. He looked forward to his annual fishing trips with his son Doug in Ludington, MI every year.

Jim is survived by his children Lawrence J. (Celine) Studer, Douglas J. (Julie) Studer and Eric S. (Josie Reyes) Studer, his grandchildren James Studer III, Caroline Studer and Vincent Studer, and his devoted friend Doris Shepard. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delphine and his son James Jr.

His family would like to thank his special caregivers Lynne Fatzinger and June Johnson and the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the Peinert Dunn Funeral Home, 6603 Providence St. Whitehouse, Ohio from 2 to 8pm on Friday December 8. Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Whitehouse Cemetery. Donations in Jim’s memory are encouraged to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter.
