Obituary for Marilyn K. Rich

Marilyn Kay Rich ‘Monga’, 76, passed away April 15, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born August 27, 1942 in Wooster, Ohio to Ross and Florence (Gerstenslager) Rich. Marilyn was a 1961 graduate of Wooster High School. She then earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education and a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Kent State University.

After teaching some, she went on to serve as a Guidance Counselor at Anthony Wayne High School. Over her 25 year career at Anthony Wayne, her passion for vocational and technical education led to hundreds of students engaging in coursework that resulted in hands on skills and gainful, employable education. She impacted countless lives with her assistance and encouragement to pursue a trade through the Penta Career Center.

A devoted daughter, caring sister and dedicated aunt, Marilyn cherished spending time with her mom, family and friends. She always had a funny story to tell or a witty remark and she loved talking on the phone, drinking wine, playing cards, watching football games and eating candy and sweets of all kinds. Her feisty and energetic spirit was characterized by her sporty green Opal GT and classic white Cadillac with an ‘ooga’ horn. Marilyn had a generous nature and always looked out for those around her. Later in life, she lived and loved the life and experiences of her nieces, nephews, their families and close neighbors as well. She was a special lady and will be truly missed.

Marilyn is survived by nieces and nephews Darcy (Al) Berardi, Patricia Moran, Ken (Laurie) Walters, Matt (Audra) Walters, Barbara (Andrew) Johnson, Marty (Dave) Klostermeyer, brothers-in-law Dick Walters and Richard Moran and great nieces and nephews Emma Klostermeyer, Dylan and Noah Walters and Seth and Mya Walters. She was preceded in death by her parents Ross and Florence Rich and sisters Janet Moran and June Walters.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 27th at 1:00 at Wooster Cemetery in Wooster, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangemets have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 6603 Providence St. Whitehouse, Ohio.
