Obituary for Charlotte L. Willinger

Charlotte Willinger crossed over to her eternal life on the morning of May 14, 2018. She was born to Thomas V. and Fredna Baker on June16, 1930 in Toledo. Charlotte married Anton Willinger in 1950 and they spent 62 years together until his death in 2012.

Charlotte was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Spedden, her beloved husband Tony, and her son Kurt. She is survived by her daughters Dianne (Tom) Tucker and Gayle (Randy) Kastor, grandchildren Matthew (Ami) Kastor, Daniel (Heather) Kastor and Amy (Craig) Tucker and great grandchildren Emily, David, Louis, Nora and Ryan Kastor.

Charlotte and Tony moved to Holland in 1955 and Charlotte was a stay-at-home mom who never failed to have homemade goodies for after school treats. She volunteered at Holland Methodist Church VBS and at many Holland Elementary School functions. One of the best was manning the cotton candy machine. To quote her, “What a mess!” She started her working career at Grant’s in Southland and soon moved to Montgomery Wards Catalog where she made many lifelong friends. After retirement, she volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital for 24 years, loving being a Pink Lady every Saturday morning. Charlotte and Tony sang in the choir for over 55 years at Asbury United Methodist Church, also making friends to last her lifetime.

With their health declining, Charlotte and Tony moved into Spring Meadows in Holland where they both received tender and loving care until each of their passing. We thank each and every person at Spring Meadows for helping us through these past years.

Charlotte has donated her earthly body to the University of Toledo Medical College and her ashes will be placed on the beach in Treasure Island, Florida where she and her family spent many happy days playing cards and enjoying the sunshine and life together.

“At the mother’s death, she will seem not dead, since she leaves after her those like herself, whom she looks upon through life with joy, and even in death, without regret” Ecclesiaticus 30:4-5
