Obituary for Don A. Scott

Don Alan Scott 71 of Whitehouse, Ohio passed away Saturday night, June 30, 2018 peacefully at Northwest Hospice, Toledo. Don was born February 15, 1947 to parents Donald F. Scott and Vera G. (Burditt) Scott in Toledo, OH.
Don was an Anthony Wayne graduate from the class of 1965. After graduation he joined the Navy serving from 1966-1970 in Electronic Aviation. Upon his return home he joined his father and brother working in the family business of Don Scott Chevrolet-Pontiac in Whitehouse. Don bought the dealership from his father and continued the business for a total of 50 years. Don retired in 2005. Don’s commitment to the dealership and community was in his heart and soul. Don served on the GM advising board for local dealers, then was a member of the Exchange Club that served the Waterville and Whitehouse communities.
He deeply believed in God, our savior Jesus Christ and tried to live his life caring, mentoring, sharing his knowledge, respecting, encouraging and sharing his love for all. Don also loved his Golden Retrievers, from Tasha to our new baby Kasie Kay. Maggie his comforter and daily companion at the dealership was his pride and joy. Don’s goal in life was to be treated fairly, enjoy life and respect your neighbor. Don’s interests included Golf (he was very proud of his hole-in-one at Valleywood), motorcycling and the trips made with family and friends across the United States, fishing, the love of NASCAR racing, being a Corvette enthusiast and collector of Corvette/model car memorabilia and above all driving Corvettes at Spring Mountain Racing grounds. The Corvette Driving School was his latest and proudest moment in 2017. Don joined Trinity Lutheran Church, Glendale Ave, when he and Kay married June 11, 1982. Later in 2017 both transferred to Hope United Methodist, Whitehouse to be closer to the Scott/Megyesi family.
Survivors include his wife Catherine "Kay" (Ball) Scott, son Wesley (Jessica) Scott, 4 grandchildren,1 great grandchild, and sister, Debra (Steve) Megyesi. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Tyson K. Scott, and brother, Ronald Scott.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 3 to 8 at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, Whitehouse, OH. Funeral Services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, 10610 Waterville St., Whitehouse, OH. Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery.
