Obituary for Wayne W. Strayer

Wayne W. Strayer, 91, of Waterville, OH, died July 19, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born July 22, 1926 in Neapolis, OH to Guy and Pearl (Mastin) Strayer. Wayne was an Army Veteran serving in WWII and Korea.
Wayne worked at Rossford Ordinance Dept. until its closing then began working for The Andersons in Maumee where he worked in many different capacities until his retirement.
Wayne loved his sports, hockey and baseball were his favorites. He loved his New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Lightning Bolts. He enjoyed spending time at his summer home at Wamplers Lake and he never turned down a game of cards.
He married Abbie (Morlock) January 31, 1948. She preceded him in death in 2017. Wayne is survived by his son Wayne Allyn (Barbara) Strayer, sisters, Bernita Podalak, Betty (Dick) Huss, and Shirley Whitaker Carrol. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers, Harold, Chester, Leroy, Kenneth, and John, and sisters, Bernice, Marie, and Beatrice.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will take place Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 1-6 p.m. at Roche de Bout Shelter at Farnsworth Metropark in Waterville, OH.
The family suggests giving memorials to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. or the American Heart Assoc. Arrangements entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Homes, Waterville, OH. To leave an online memory please visit
