Obituary for Paul Hiser

Paul Monroe Hiser, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at his Whitehouse home of 56 years. He was born September 11, 1930, in Bradner, Ohio. Paul was an industrial arts teacher in the Anthony Wayne and Washington Local School Districts, retiring in 1986 after 26 years in the classroom.

Paul graduated from Bradner High School in 1948 and enrolled at Bowling Green State University. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served in the Korean War as an aircraft instrument specialist with the 335th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron. Paul was honorably discharged and returned to BGSU in 1955, graduating in June 1957 with a B.S. in Education. He began teaching at Anthony Wayne High School and spent the majority of his career in the Washington Local School District.

Paul’s passionate, lifelong project was building and remodeling his home. He was an avid woodworker and furniture craftsman, voracious reader, charismatic storyteller, and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Buckeyes, Falcons, Indians, and Browns. Paul intently followed the athletic and academic achievements and endeavors of his seven grandchildren.

Survivors are his wife of nearly 58 years, Dorothy (Lawrence) Hiser; children Jeff (Tanya) Hiser, Roger (Beth) Hiser, and Laura (Al) Stevens; and grandchildren Katie, Hunter, Kennedy, Eric, Anne Marie, Alyssa, and Mitchell. He is also survived by his sister Patricia (Lee) Miesle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Helen Hiser, his brothers Jack and Robert Hiser, and his sisters Beverly and Paula Hiser, and Betty Boyd.
